Certainly. One symptom of menopause that's directly related to the hormone shifts is "hot flashes" (also referred to as hot flushes or vasomotor symptoms). These sudden-onset feelings of "burning up" and sweating, often followed by chills and shivering (because the body's cooling system is activated), appear to be somewhat unpredictable. Some women are frustrated by the sense of never knowing when hot flashes will occur. Hot flashes are blamed for sleep disorders in some women. Although most women experience hot flashes only during perimenopause, some women have them during the postmenopausal years as well.
As you can see, there are many physiological changes that either start or become more pronounced during perimenopause. Fortunately, exercise has been shown to be beneficial for women in this stage of life.
