You'll recall from her
registration form that Beth is a recreational athlete whose
goal is to get in shape. She's 5'5" and weighs 140 pounds.
She would like to lose 10 pounds and keep it off.
Beth really got motivated
to improve her diet and to become more active after a recent
physical. Her physician told her that her total cholesterol
and LDL cholesterol levels are slightly elevated and that her
HDL cholesterol is near the lower end of normal, as you can
see in this chart.
Beth is concerned, but not panicked. She has resolved to eat
better and to exercise more. She has a few questions for you
about the role diet and exercise might play in improving her
blood lipid levels.
