You're right! Very good.
Joaquin has probably contracted an infection in his throat. Athletes often have more labored breathing than usual
after exercise when they have infections. Joaquin most likely has one of two conditions:
- Pharyngitis,
an infection of the throat (e.g., strep throat), which manifests as a sore throat.
- Infectious mononucleosis, or
"mono," which is less common than pharyngitis. Mono is a viral infection that manifests as a sore throat,
enlarged lymph nodes in the neck, and prolonged weakness.
You would need more information about Joaquin's symptoms to make an
educated guess about his specific problem. He's not coughing or wheezing and he has no history of breathing problems,
so you can probably rule out asthma. He doesn't have the symptoms of a cold. And because he's not coughing, bronchitis
and pneumonia are also unlikely.
